Course History

The Bridges Golf Club opened in 1999 as the golf centerpiece of the Gale Ranch master-planned community in San Ramon. The design brought together the star power of Hall of Fame player and broadcaster Johnny Miller with the design expertise of architect Damian Pascuzzo, producing a modern layout that quickly earned a reputation as one of the more dramatic and demanding public courses in the East Bay.

In the years since opening, the course has been refined to keep pace with its championship ambitions while remaining accessible to the public, and it continues to host tournaments, outings and everyday play for golfers throughout Northern California.

The Design & Architecture

The Bridges has the feel of a Southern California canyon course transplanted to the hills of Northern California. Miller and Pascuzzo routed the holes through a series of small valleys, letting creeks, ravines and rugged natural contours dictate a bold strategy off the tee and into the greens. Significant elevation changes, forced carries and sloping, doglegging fairways give the course its distinctive drama, and the many bridges that carry play across the ravines lend the club both its name and its signature character.

Playing the Course

Stretching to 6,861 yards with a par of 72, The Bridges plays to a stout course rating of 74.0 and a slope of 144 from the back tees, making club selection and course management essential. The rolling terrain rewards accurate, well-placed tee shots over sheer distance, and the elevation changes can add or subtract clubs on approach. Multiple sets of tees allow players of all abilities to enjoy the challenge and scenery, and a driving range and practice facilities help golfers warm up before tackling the dramatic layout.
