Course History

Eagle Vines Golf Club opened for play in 2004 in American Canyon, at the southern entrance to the Napa Valley. The layout combined ten holes from the former Chardonnay Club / Club Shakespeare Napa Valley property with eight newly built holes, creating a full 18-hole championship course routed among the region's vineyards and native trees.

Founded on the belief that nature and golf were meant to coexist, the club has preserved the surrounding oak groves and cherry trees while integrating working vineyards into the property. Ongoing investment has included a substantial renovation of the greenside bunkers and upgrades to the practice facilities.

The Design & Architecture

Designed by World Golf Hall of Fame member Johnny Miller along with Jack Barry, the course stretches to 7,297 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, a course rating of 75.4, and a slope of 138. The routing traverses rolling foothills and weaves between mature oaks and cherry trees, with roughly 27 acres of working vineyards, creeks, and water features shaping both the scenery and the strategy. Poa annua and bent greens complete a design that rewards thoughtful shot placement.

Playing the Course

From the championship tees, Eagle Vines is a genuine test, with a 75.4 rating and 138 slope reflecting the demands of its length, water hazards, and well-placed bunkers. Multiple tee options make the course enjoyable for a wide range of skill levels, and a typical round plays in about four hours. Vineyard and foothill views accompany players throughout, making the experience as scenic as it is challenging.
