Course description

The maintained course record, presented separately from live booking and user reviews.

Opened in 1994, the club spreads across three distinctive nines - Creekside, Hillside, and Diablo - with the Creekside/Hillside combination serving as the primary 18-hole championship layout. With water features, strategic bunkering, and mountain and vineyard scenery, it delivers an enjoyable and memorable round for players of all skill levels.

Course History

Brentwood Golf Club opened in 1994 as part of the East Bay's residential and recreational growth in the foothills near Mount Diablo. Conceived as a 27-hole facility, it was laid out as three interchangeable nines - Creekside, Hillside, and Diablo - allowing multiple 18-hole combinations. The Creekside/Hillside pairing has long been regarded as the club's championship 18.

Now operated as a welcoming public venue, the club has been recognized repeatedly as a "Best of Brentwood" honoree by the Brentwood Press and remains a popular destination for daily-fee play, instruction, and events in the region.

The Design & Architecture

The course was designed by acclaimed architect Ted Robinson, Sr., known for more than 170 courses worldwide and celebrated for his artful use of water. His stated philosophy is to "balance the strategic elements of the game in such a way as to maximize the rewards of playing for the greatest number of people." At Brentwood that translates into generous, playable landing areas framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards, with rye grass greens and fairways maintained throughout. The signature hole is Hillside No. 4, where water runs down the right side toward an island green.

Playing the Course

Playing to a par of 72 and stretching to about 6,840 yards, the championship layout carries a Course Rating of 73.3 and a Slope of 134 from the back tees, offering a genuine test for accomplished players while remaining enjoyable from the forward markers. Water comes into play on several holes, so club selection and positioning off the tee are rewarded, and the backdrop of Mount Diablo and the surrounding hills and vineyards makes for a scenic round.
