Course History

Discovery Bay Country Club opened in 1986 as the golfing centerpiece of the Discovery Bay community, a residential and boating enclave built around the channels and waterways of the San Joaquin Delta. Sited on 225 acres at the eastern edge of Contra Costa County, the club was designed to take full advantage of its unique waterfront location, incorporating the Delta's fresh water into the fabric of the course.

Over the decades, the club has grown into a full-service private country club, pairing its championship layout with a clubhouse, dining, and a range of social and recreational amenities for its members and their families.

The Design & Architecture

The course is the work of Ted Robinson, an architect renowned for his artful use of water in golf design. At Discovery Bay he placed a network of lakes and ponds that meander through the property, fed by fresh water drawn from the surrounding Delta through multiple entry and exit points. These water features, combined with generous bunkering and bentgrass playing surfaces, give the course both its distinctive scenic character and a genuine challenge that tests players of every skill level.

Playing to a par of 72 and stretching to roughly 6,574 yards with a course rating of 72.8 and a slope of 131, Discovery Bay presents a fair but demanding test.
