Presidio Golf Course Launches New Walk-On Pass Program
Presidio Golf Course has launched a new Walk-On Pass Program, giving golfers unlimited eligible play for a single prepaid fee. Three-month, annual weekday and annual all-access options are available, with prices starting at $1,500. Each pass also includes complimentary use of a golf cart and a warm-up bucket for every round played.
The program creates a new way to play Presidio Golf Course, the historic public course that winds through the forested hills of San Francisco's Presidio. Founded in 1895, the course began as nine holes on the former military reservation, expanded to 18 holes in 1910 and opened to public play in the 1990s. The pass program is open to anyone, but it is not a membership program. Passes must be paid in full in advance and are non-refundable.
Three Walk-On Pass options
Three-Month All Access — $1,500: Unlimited eligible play on any day for three months.
Annual Weekday — $4,400: Unlimited eligible play Monday through Friday for one year.
Annual All Access — $5,000: Unlimited eligible play on any day for one year.
A pass becomes active on the day it is purchased and runs for the selected three-month or one-year term. The included cart and warm-up bucket apply to each round played, and eligible play is unlimited during the pass term. As with all tee times at Presidio, access remains subject to availability; buying a pass does not guarantee a particular starting time. The normal reservation and grouping rules still apply, and any qualifying advance-booking surcharge remains separate from the prepaid pass price.
How the $20 advance-booking surcharge works
Walk-On Pass holders may reserve a tee time up to seven days in advance. Presidio Players Club members who also hold the pass may book up to 14 days ahead. There is no surcharge for Monday-through-Thursday tee times. For Friday-through-Sunday and holiday tee times booked at least one day in advance, a $20 surcharge is due at check-in.
The key distinction is when the tee time is booked, not simply when the round is played. Booking Friday golf on Thursday triggers the $20 charge. Booking on Friday for a tee time later that same day does not. The same-day exception also applies on Saturday and Sunday: golfers who call or walk up and secure a same-day time do not pay the advance-booking surcharge.
Booking groups and playing as a single
Passholders can continue using Presidio's normal reservation process and may include golfers who do not have a Walk-On Pass in their tee time. The course changes the passholder's profile name in its booking system to reflect the pass, but nothing else about the profile or reservation process changes. The pass applies to its holder; it does not extend pass benefits to the other golfers in the booking.
Golfers should also understand that the course generally does not allow single-player bookings. A passholder arriving alone will normally be worked into an existing group, such as a twosome or threesome, rather than sent out as a single.
Rules and how to sign up
The program carries a few firm playing requirements. Passholders must check in with the golf shop before starting, play only one ball and play the holes consecutively. Presidio says a pass can be revoked if those procedures are not followed. The agreement is renewable annually at the discretion of both the golfer and the course.
Golfers who want to buy a pass can complete the application and pay for their selected option in the Presidio golf shop. Because every fee is non-refundable and the term starts immediately, applicants should choose their pass length and eligible days before purchasing.
