Course History
Vintner's Golf Club opened in 1999 as a public golf facility for the town of Yountville, giving Napa Valley visitors and residents an accessible place to play amid the region's famous vineyards and wineries. The original nine-hole course was designed by Casey O'Callaghan, and the layout was later refined, with subsequent design work attributed to Bob Boldt in the early 2000s. Over the years the course has been recognized locally, including being voted the best up-valley golf course by Napa Sonoma Magazine.
Design & Architecture
Casey O'Callaghan's nine-hole routing plays to a par of 34, comprising five par 4s, three par 3s and a single par 5. From the longest tees the course measures about 2,819 yards, with additional forward tee sets that let players replay the nine as a full 18-hole round with varied yardages and angles. The relatively compact footprint rewards accuracy and short-game skill, and the greens - widely praised as among the best in the area - are the defining feature of the design.
Playing the Course
At par 34 over roughly 2,819 yards, Vintner's is an eminently walkable nine that can be enjoyed in a couple of hours or looped twice for a full round. The mix of par 3s and mid-length par 4s keeps the round varied, while the well-maintained putting surfaces put a premium on approach play and putting. Multiple tee options make it friendly to beginners, juniors and higher-handicap players, and the on-site practice range, putting green and chipping area let golfers warm up before teeing off. Carts, pull-carts and club rentals are available, as is instruction through the on-site golf academy.
