Sequoyah Country Club

Its golf course is now a construction project rather than a settled set of playing figures: the club began a ground-up renovation in February 2026, with the routing, infrastructure, practice facilities, and turf program all changing before the course's planned return.

History, site, and redesign

Sequoyah's long history and ridgeline setting remain the foundation, but the club's July 2026 renovation booklet describes a comprehensive redesign led by golf architect Jay Blasi. The phased work covers all 18 holes and replaces aging irrigation and drainage while reshaping the course for strategic play, improved walkability, and more reliable growing conditions.

Practice and environmental work

The plan adds a double-ended driving range and expands the putting and short-game areas. New irrigation, drainage, responsible water management, and sustainable turf practices are intended to reduce long-term resource use while improving course health. These are project goals published by the club, not a review of the finished result.

Golf access during construction

The renovation is proceeding in phases, starting with the front nine. The club says member golf access will be limited during parts of construction and that it will retain as much safe play as conditions allow. It anticipates preview play on the front nine in fall 2026, preview play on all 18 holes in early spring 2027, and a grand reopening in May 2027. These are targets that the club says may change with weather, growing conditions, and construction discoveries. Golfers should contact the club for the current playable holes and availability before planning a round.

Course figures and images

The former course card and turf description describe the routing that is now being rebuilt. The club has not yet published a named-tee scorecard for the completed layout. Par, yardage, Course Rating, and Slope Rating will become clear when the redesigned course is ready for full play.

The club says dining, social events, fitness, tennis, and pool amenities continue through golf construction; prospective members should ask the membership office for the current play and reciprocal-access plan rather than assume the preview targets have been met.
