Course History

Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club was originally founded in 1916, making it one of the oldest clubs in Sonoma County. As the region grew, the club moved to its present-day location, where the current 18-hole course was established in 1958.

Over the decades the layout has been refined by several architects while retaining its original character, and the club has remained a private, member-focused institution and a fixture of the Santa Rosa golf community.

The Design & Architecture

The present course was designed by Jack Fleming, a protégé of legendary golf architect Alister MacKenzie, with later refinements attributed to Ben Harmon, Mark Rathert (1979) and Fred Bliss. The par-72 layout features Bentgrass and Poa greens set against Ryegrass fairways that thread through mature trees and gently rolling terrain typical of the Sonoma County landscape.

Playing the Course

Playing to 6,733 yards from the Black tees with a course rating of 72.6 and a slope of 134, the course offers a genuine championship test while remaining enjoyable from the forward tees, which range down to roughly 5,100 yards. Tree-lined corridors, well-guarded greens and subtle elevation changes reward accurate, strategic play, and multiple tee options let members and guests find a challenge suited to their game.
