Course History

San Ramon Golf Club first opened its gates in 1946, making it one of the longer-standing public golf destinations in the Tri-Valley area. The greens are planted with Poa Annua, prized locally for their consistent, true roll, while the fairways and tees feature a resilient Kikuyu and Bermuda grass blend suited to the East Bay climate. The course's most talked-about feature is its signature 9th hole, a short par-4 that plays to an island green and rewards a precise, well-judged approach.

At 6,459 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, a course rating of 71.4, and a slope of 128, San Ramon plays to a fair but engaging test. The layout favors accuracy and smart course management over raw distance, making it enjoyable for higher handicappers while still challenging low-handicap players around the greens.
