Course and history

The short holes sit among mature trees at the head of Dimond Canyon. The operator describes the nine as easily walkable and suited to short-game practice; its site also shows the actual wooded playing corridor. An independent local history records that plans for a lake on this site gave way to a driving range and that Montclair Golf Course opened in 1961. The operator says its family-run business has served Oakland golfers since 1980; that is an operating-history date, not the course opening year.

The nine all-par-3 holes support par 27, but no yardage, course rating or slope is asserted here. Older third-party lengths disagree and are not a substitute for a dated operator or active rating card.

Plan a visit

The current operator page says membership and tee-time reservations are unnecessary: stop by for walk-up play. The range and course page currently displays $7 per round Monday–Thursday and $9 Friday–Sunday, with course play until about one hour before sunset. Check that page or call the golf shop before traveling, because prices and hours can change.

The double-deck range lists 19 upper stalls and 17 lower stalls, with evening lights; the same page posts ball-bucket prices. Golf lessons are offered, and the operator restaurant page lists food and bar service. The course is at 2477 Monterey Boulevard with on-site parking, according to the contact page.
