Almaden Golf & Country Club

Almaden Golf & Country Club is a private, member-owned 18-hole course in San Jose’s Almaden Valley. The club’s golf overview describes a par-72 round through tree-lined fairways, bunkers and occasional water, with walking or cart play.

History and design

The NCGA’s 2025 directory lists the course opening in 1955, NCGA affiliation in 1958, and Jack Fleming as architect. Golfplan’s project list records a 1979 renovation at Almaden. The available primary sources do not establish a later Todd Eckenrode redesign or the course’s present turf varieties.

Playing the course

The operator says the course can play as long as 6,960 yards. A scorecard image printed in June 2022 gives a Black-tee total of 6,900 yards over 18 holes, while an older page record claimed 6,852 yards, 74.1 rating and 133 slope. No directly opened current, gender-labeled card resolves those versions, so confirm the present tee and rating with the golf shop. The operator also lists a driving range, bunkers, pitching green and putting green.

Access and arrival

This is a private club. The guest policy requires a member to accompany golf guests and lists the pro shop at (408) 268-3959 and clubhouse at (408) 268-4653. There is no public online tee-time booking. Outside tournament events may be arranged for groups on Mondays through the club; that is a separate access path from individual guest play.
