Course History

The Links at Bodega Harbour traces its origins to 1978, when Robert Trent Jones Jr. laid out the first nine holes along the bluffs above Bodega Bay. The course was expanded to a full 18-hole championship layout in 1987, completing Jones's vision of a true seaside links on the Northern California coast.

In 2008 the course underwent an extensive renovation in which all 18 greens were converted from poa annua to bentgrass and more than 96 bunkers were reconstructed, sharpening the strategic character of the original design while preserving its dramatic coastal routing.

The Design & Architecture

True to its links heritage, the course plays through native coastal rough, rolling fairways, and firm, undulating greens defended by pot bunkers. The front nine climbs across open, wind-exposed terrain with carefully placed multi-tiered greens, while the routing builds toward a dramatic climax over the closing holes as the course drops down toward the beach and the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Ocean views accompany play from nearly every hole.

Playing the Course

Measuring roughly 6,290 yards to a par of 70 with a course rating of 71.6 and a slope of 132, The Links at Bodega Harbour rewards accuracy and thoughtful course management over raw length. Coastal wind is a constant factor, and the firm links surfaces demand creativity around the greens. The stretch of holes near the water, particularly the beachside finish, delivers the round's most memorable and photogenic golf.
