Course guide

Hank and Dorie Schimpeler converted a former ranch into the course: the back nine opened in 1965, and the front nine followed in 1969. The original 1911 ranch house is now the clubhouse.
The site began as the 160-acre Silva ranch, where apple and pear orchards, vineyards and pasture surrounded the house built in 1911. George Enos, a member of the ranch family, dug a makeshift golf hole there in 1927; that spot became the present seventh hole. Hank and Dorie Schimpeler bought the property in 1964, opened the back nine on May 15, 1965, and completed the front nine in 1969.
The course remains in the Schimpeler family, according to its published history.
The front nine winds by streams, while the back nine climbs toward broad views over Monterey County. Tight fairways, elevated tees and rolling ground reward accurate shots; the eighteenth green sits beside a waterfall. A driving range is open to the public.
From the Blue tees, the 2025 operator card lists 6,073 yards at par 71, with a men’s course rating of 70.0 and slope of 122. The front nine is par 35; the back is par 36. The second hole is the longest par 4 on the card at 431 yards, and the par-5 17th stretches 527 yards. The card also lists separate White, Gold and Red tees, so players can choose a shorter route through the same hills.
These figures come from the Spring Hills scorecard; the card also sets out the local rules for water and out-of-bounds areas.
The course is at 501 Spring Hills Drive; call (831) 724-1404. The operator’s course history describes the routing and public access, and its scorecard page shows the tee card.
