Course History

Mariners Point Golf Center opened in 1996 on reclaimed bayfront land in Foster City, part of the wave of accessible public golf facilities developed on the San Francisco Peninsula during that era. Conceived as a combined executive course and practice center, it was built to serve golfers of all abilities, and it has remained a fixture of the local golf scene, offering affordable rounds and a place to practice within easy reach of the Bay Area.

The Design & Architecture

The course was designed by the architectural partnership of Bob Cupp and John Fought. Laid out as a 9-hole, par-3 track along the edge of San Francisco Bay, the design makes the most of its waterfront setting, framing holes against the bay and surrounding wetlands. The compact routing emphasizes precision iron play and short-game skill rather than length, giving each of the nine holes a distinct target-oriented character.

Playing the Course

At 9 holes and par 27 over roughly 1,233 yards from the back tees, Mariners Point plays as a quick, walkable round that rewards accurate short irons and a sharp short game. It is well suited to beginners, juniors, and families, while more experienced players use it to dial in wedge distances and putting. The course is lighted for night play seven days a week, and push carts and rental clubs are available for those who want a casual, low-commitment outing with sweeping bay views.
