La Rinconada Country Club

A Los Gatos club since 1929

La Rinconada was established on a 125-acre foothill site in 1929, with A. P. Giannini among its founders. The routing uses the natural ground above the Santa Clara Valley. The club describes an intentionally walkable course, with tight tree-lined fairways and small greens guarded by bunkers rather than a layout built only around length.

Course and practice

The member practice complex has an all-grass driving range with target greens and bunkers, plus a short-game area with varied lies and expansive sand. Golf instruction and club tournaments are also part of the program.

Members have a 350-yard all-grass range with target greens and bunker complexes that echo on-course shots. A separate short-game area supplies uneven fairway lies, rough and a broad practice bunker. Instruction includes group and junior programs, and the club runs member competitions throughout the year.

Club setting

The course and practice facilities sit within a private club rather than a public daily-fee operation. The clubhouse looks out across the valley toward the Santa Cruz Mountains. The club describes ongoing water-saving work and a course modernization plan.
