MacKenzie’s design opened in 1932 and offers the more demanding of the complex’s two rounds, with old oaks, small greens and Arcade Creek affecting several holes.
Design and play
A 2001 city renovation improved irrigation and rebuilt the ninth and eighteenth greens with the original design in mind. The par-3 sixteenth places the creek beside and behind its green; the par-5 seventeenth gives long hitters a chance to reach in two if they avoid the creek. On the eighteenth, a crossing bunker appears closer to the green than it is.
